He Wants to Hear From You Too: Bringing Your Whole Heart to the Father

“Cast all your cares on Him, for He cares for you.” — 1 Peter 5:7

As I was reflecting today, I came face-to-face with something deeply personal.

I realized that I spend so much time praying for others—interceding for families, nations, churches, and situations. My heart is constantly on the battlefield of spiritual warfare, calling heaven to earth for everyone else. And while I know I’m called to that place, I felt a tug from the Father, gently whispering, “Daughter, I want to hear about you too.”

It was as if God was inviting me back—not to the frontlines, but to His lap.

Somewhere along the way, I had forgotten how to pray for me.

Not in a selfish or shallow way—but in the way a daughter speaks to her loving Father. I had stopped praying about the things that sit in the quiet corners of my soul:

— My future

— My health

— My dreams

— My retirement

— My fears

— My desires as a woman, a wife, a mother, a leader.

God Desires Intimacy, Not Just Intercession

Many of us have been conditioned to think prayer is only powerful when it’s about “big things”—government decisions, deliverance, warfare, revival. And yes, all of those matter deeply. But so does your aching heart. So does the dream you’ve shelved. So does your desire to take better care of your body, to travel, to rest, to build something for your children.

God is not just the Commander of the army—He is Abba, your Father.

And fathers don’t only want to hear war reports. They want to know what’s in their daughter’s heart.

He Sees You—and Wants to Sit With You

Psalm 139 reminds us that God knows us intimately. Every thought. Every word before it’s spoken. Every tear we’ve cried. But even still, He wants us to open our mouths and share. Why? Because intimacy is a two-way exchange.

“Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us.”

— Psalm 62:8

You don’t need a reason to talk to God about your day. You don’t need a crisis to ask for His attention. Just come.

When Was the Last Time You Talked to God About You?

Not the you that shows up for others. Not the you that leads the prayer line or signs the contracts. Not the you that everyone else depends on.

The you that’s still healing. The you that’s wondering if there’s more. The you who dreams of quiet mornings, laughter-filled afternoons, and legacy-filled tomorrows.

A Gentle Reminder for Every Woman of God

Today, I want to remind you: God wants to hear from you—about you.

Your dreams.

Your burdens.

Your joy.

Your future.

Your scars.

Your brilliance.

Your becoming.

Don’t leave yourself out of your prayer life.

A Simple Prayer to Bring It All to Him:

“Father, I come to You not just as a vessel for others, but as Your daughter. Thank You that I can bring my whole heart to You. I surrender the parts I’ve hidden, neglected, or deemed unworthy. Teach me to rest in Your love—not just as a warrior, but as a woman. In Jesus’ name, amen.”

This is interesting. This morning, I asked God to take me back to the simplicity of prayer (going to Him without hesitation and pouring my heart out before Him. Somehow assured that I could tell Him anything). I lost my way. Very, very recently, I started using the name Abba, when talking to or about God. I had never done that before. I didn't know why, but it felt like, this was what I should be calling Him. After reading, this post, and seeing you refer to Him as Abba, I researched the meaning of the name and found that it denotes personal intimacy. Yes, He wants to hear from us and about us.
